ephemeralflash_ A desolate sonic dirge like no other, full of dread with splinters of beauty. Favorite track: The Trouble With Being Born.

Errol Avant-garde art! This is music that confronts you, makes you think, clobbers you with huge slabs of melodious noise, crushes you with its overpowering dread. So much fun! Favorite track: Handholder.

PAUL MAGGARD This Record is Emotionally stirring and Sonically Brilliant. I've pined for a band that could reach the dark summits of Horror-noir driven metal. The Great Tyrant has succeeded greatly, carrying forth the dark vision of their brethren brothers Goblin and Zombi, but reaching a peak that absolutely stuns the soul. Favorite track: Handholder.

about

THE GREAT TYRANT was a three-piece experimental rock band from Denton, TX active in the late '10s that released one full length album and a few singles to cult acclaim. On the eve of the completion of the band's second full length, The Trouble With Being Born, bassist Tommy Wayne Atkins unexpectedly passed away. The remaining two members of THE GREAT TYRANT continued on as Pinkish Black, but The Trouble With Being Born lay unreleased until now. Finally available as a limited edition LP and CD The Trouble With Being Born is a killer insight into the genesis of Pinkish Black.
